Central Texas has become a semiconductor center. Samsung's roughly $17 billion fab in Taylor, the largest foreign investment in Texas history, was about ninety percent complete in early 2026 and targeting a late-2026 startup, and the company's Austin campuses inject billions into the region. Around it sits a metro that has not stopped building corporate campuses. Fabs, clean rooms, and office construction all share a hard requirement, floors and layouts that hold precision the drawings alone cannot guarantee.
Why does a fab floor need reality capture?
Semiconductor manufacturing is unforgiving about the floor and the layout. Clean-room slabs and tool foundations carry vibration-sensitive equipment that will not tolerate a wavy plane, and the fit-out has to place tools, gas lines, and subfab systems on exact coordinates across an enormous footprint. Set that out by hand and small errors compound across the building.
A scan of the shell gives the team the real conditions, and we use the point cloud to drive robotic layout that stakes true coordinates on the actual floor. A floor flatness analysis verifies the slab against the tight tolerance a clean room requires before equipment arrives, and where the base building needs an accurate model, we take the capture to scan-to-BIM.
Corporate campuses and commercial fit-outs
The same growth that brought the fabs filled Austin with corporate campus construction and tenant improvement work. A fit-out crew moving fast still has to build against the real structure, and on a large floor plate the drawings drift from the field the moment construction starts. Capturing existing conditions keeps coordination honest and keeps the trades from discovering conflicts the hard way.
