St. Louis is measuring itself again, from the geospatial campus to the brick warehouses.

The city that spread west from the river now runs on two building stocks at once. To the north, a new geospatial and defense corridor is taking shape around the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's roughly $1.75 billion western headquarters campus, which opened in 2025, with Boeing's Defense, Space and Security headquarters back in the region and more than eighteen thousand employees nearby. A few miles south and east, block after block of nineteenth century brick warehouses are being gutted and reborn as lofts, offices, and breweries. Both worlds need the same thing before design starts. A measured, trustworthy record of what is actually there.

What do you do with a warehouse nobody has drawings for?

St. Louis has one of the richest stocks of historic brick warehouses in the country, and most of them predate any drawing you could trust. Timber columns have sagged, floors have moved, masonry walls lean where a century of settling took them. Before an architect can convert one of these buildings, the real dimensions have to come first. A full point-cloud scan records the as-is condition wall to wall, so the design starts from the building that exists rather than an assumption about it.

For adaptive reuse specifically, our historic preservation scanning documents the masonry, the structure, and the character features that have to be kept, and hands the design team the geometry they need to fit new systems into an old shell. From there the same scan feeds a coordinated scan-to-BIM model for the renovation.
