Few metros pack this much precision work into one coastline. San Diego hosts a major concentration of the US Navy fleet and a large defense and shipbuilding presence on the bay, and inland the Torrey Pines and UTC corridor holds one of the top-four life-sciences clusters in the country. All of it sits in an active-fault seismic region, where knowing the true position of walls, structure, and equipment matters more, not less. Lab fit-outs, shipyards, and defense facilities all reward capture that is measured rather than assumed.

Ships and defense facilities are the definition of a hard scan.

A vessel, a dry dock, or a defense facility is dense, three-dimensional, and rarely matches its paperwork after years of refit. Piping, decks, bulkheads, and machinery crowd every space, and a repair or retrofit has to fit into geometry that already exists. A laser scan captures that condition as a point cloud, giving engineers an accurate base to design against instead of stale drawings. From that capture we produce interior and facility documentation and coordinated scan-to-BIM models for the work ahead.

Where a fabricated part, an assembly, or a machined component has to be checked against its design, our dimensional inspection compares the as-built geometry to the model and reports the deviation, so a part is verified before it goes into service.

A lab fit-out and a seismic wall both need true dimensions.

The Torrey Pines biotech corridor turns space over constantly, one tenant's lab becoming the next tenant's suite with new benches, fume hoods, and dense mechanical routing overhead. Tight fit-outs like these fail when the base building is off from the drawings, so a scan-first approach pays for itself. A point cloud captures the real slab-to-deck condition, and coordinated scan-to-BIM models let the design team route new systems without surprises during construction.

Seismic conditions add another reason to measure. In an active-fault region, walls that have moved or racked over time need to be documented accurately, and our wall plumbness analysis scans the wall in full and shows how far it leans out of plumb, which matters for both new fit-outs and existing-building assessment.
